300 words
Trying to visualize a journey through contemporary architecture i am going to create some classic building elements moving around and then travelling from Europe to Chicago where the new style of architecture is shaping the new urban fabric of Chicago, works done by famous architects like Solivan and others...then i will go back to Europe where modern architecture is going to be dominant style of architecture, a few famous buildings by the architects of the time, adolf loos who said “embellishments are crime”, miss van de rohe who said “less is more “ le Corbusier who said ‘house is a machine for living” and other examples... ideas of futurists will be presented and the end of their period which was world war first when sant elia was killed in the war...modernism and international style began to grow faster after world war 2 when there was lots of destructions and millions of homeless people and huge demands for habitats. Resulting in simple design, cheep and fast construction methods...having cities around Europe which look the same and after that is the changes happening in philosophy which affected architecture ,philosophy of deconstruction proposed by Deleuz, which can be showed by making a deconstruction composition from a modern composition of building volumes...after this is the postmodernism, Charles Jencks who announced the death of modernity in his book and put an image from a modern apartment being demolished by explosion...ventury who said “les is bore”, More who said “more is more” and other examples, a post modern building and the first of the which is venture’s mother’s house is representative of postmodern architecture...after that is the folding architecture which can be presented by eisenman’s works and also by changing a normal rectangular building to its layers and then folding those to create a new building...after that is again Charles Jencks theory of jumping universe which can be presented by fractal geometry and also buildings designed by Frank o Gehry in new york ,Bilbao and so on...
A journey in contemporary architecture

The architecture has changed through the last century due to changes in science, philosophy and technology. Modernism was the first huge achievement of human in early 20th century which had it roots in renaissance. Renaissance was a great change in Europe after the Medicci family in Florence started to translate scientific documents from Greek, Persian and Egyptian recourses...in early 20th century existentialism was proposed by Kafka, Como, Sartre and others, Impressionism ,Cubism and lots of other philosophies. ..Modern time had its own influences on everything especially architecture, after that were constructivists, futurists and postmodernists...postmodern was again a great change. In post modern time most of modern ideas were rejected by philosophers in different aspects such as, rationalism, ideologies, history, and media....
After post modernity was the time for deconstructivist when Jaque Derida published his three book in 1967.soon after deconstruction was the time for Deleuoz to come up with his philosophy of folds. And at the end Charles Jencks and his theory of Jumping Universe.

One of our assignments is to write 150 words about a concept…this is really giving me a headache…there are thousands of concept in my mind with the same value of importance and at the same time there is nothing in my mind! Fractals, folds, postmodernism, modernity, sustainability, sports, music’s, philosophy or anything else!!! For me it is hard to talk or write about a general concept in case there is a specific question. But the second assignment of extracting 7 words from the text is giving me an idea…7 itself can be a clue to many thing, for me it is a reminder of our ancient new year which we have been celebrating it since 600 BC. Our new year called “Nowruz” is celebrated cheerfully by Iranian people and a lot of other related cultures. It has spread in many parts of the world including parts of Central Asia, South Asia, Northwestern China, Albania, Bosnia and Republic of Macedonia. Nowruz marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the year in Iranian calendar. It is celebrated on the day of vernal equinox which usually occurs on March 21. Nowruz includes a lot of ceremonies and traditions. The Haft SÄ«n or seven ‘S’s is a major tradition of nowruz. The Haft SÄ«n table includes seven items starting with letter S of Iranian alphabet. The items symbolically correspond to seven creations and holy immortals protecting them.
The Haft Sīn items are:
sabzeh - wheat, barley or lentil sprouts growing in a dish - symbolizing rebirth
samanu - a sweet pudding made from wheat germ - symbolizing affluence
senjed - the dried fruit of the oleaster tree - symbolizing love
sīr - garlic - symbolizing medicine
sīb - apples - symbolizing beauty and health
somaq - sumac berries - symbolizing (the color of) sunrise
serkeh - vinegar - symbolizing age and patience
In addition a bowl of water with a pomegranate floating in it which symbolizes the earth in the space.
